Fashion SchoolsThe first school that comes to mind when you are talking fashion is Collins College. They have a bachelor's degree program in fashion design and merchandising. This gives you a lot of the business skills that you would need to succeed in the fashion industry. There are a lot of areas that someone who graduates from this program could enter when starting their career, such as fashion styling, designing, merchandising, and dealing with trends. Karim Rashid is one of the alumni that comes to speak at the college too.
The Art Institute of Phoenix is next on the list. They have a program that is very helpful for those that want to be in fashion marketing. There are a variety of jobs that can be obtained once someone has completed their bachelor of art's degree program. This college has been operating in the Phoenix area since 1995, and they are part of the AI corporation that has schools all over the United States along with Canada. The courses that are offered at this college can be year round, making it easy to work around your schedule.

It started as just a department store college in 1968, and now has become an accredited institution that has over 130 certificate and degree programs available.

Over 40? Grabbing a pair of readers everytime you want to read something?
Get used to it. Unfortunately eyesight is one thing that slides away slowly as we age. However, I've found a terrific supplement that seems to help. It's by my fave vitamin company www.procaps.com (Andrew Lessman).
I first saw him on one of the shopping channels years ago and ordered something. I think it was the Circulation, Leg and Vein support. Now, nearly 8 years later I cannot be without this supplement. It truly helps with any heaviness I feel in my legs. It's one of those supplements that you don't notice anything if you DO take it; but you sure notice when you don't.
But I digress... eyesight is another topic and the supplement I love is the Ultimate Eye Support on the procaps' site. I take it and I swear my eyes don't get as tired or blurry (placebo effect?). It seems to help.
Also, from WebMD, here are a few great nutritional choices for helping to keep your eyes bright and working...click here to read article.

How to Avoid and Reduce Wrinkles
Wrinkles On Skin- How Do They Form?
Sleep on one side for many years and your face on that side will develop wrinkles. Can we not change our sleeping position after every few days? Do that and find out.
Smoke and you pull your muscles near the mouth. You will develop the typical wrinkles of a smoker called smoker lines soon. Stop smoking and stop that. Moreover smoking also forms more free radicals that damage the healthy collagen in the skin and make your skin sag with typical signs under the eyes, cheeks etc.
Go out in the sun and let the UV strike your face. It will damage the skin immediately. Your upper skin will become thin and the lower supporting skin will become thin. This causes more wrinkles as the support goes away from below and the skin sags. Protect yourself from sun. Wear wide brimmed hats, sunglasses and apply a sunscreen of SPF 15 regularly.
Make more gestures with your face and you will get the lines that will become permanent forever after sometime. Make less gestures and expressions with face and stop those wrinkles.
Use antioxidant creams. Use moisturizers-stop skin from drying. Eat healthy food full of Vitamins and antioxidants. Use formulations prepared for boosting collagen production as you age. Take these preventive steps in your youth and the old age may never come to show on your face. Avoid the costly and painful procedures for getting the youth.

- Emollients make skins smoother.
- Humectants hold the skin Moisture.
Organic moisturizers are generally pocket friendly. They don't cost a leg to purchase because their production cycle is relatively short
This is very important because not all countries who claim to produce organic products do so. The term organic is generic and is thus defined differently from country to country. Ensure the country of manufacture adheres to general norms of organic farming.
Most organic products are usually small in size and the quality and ingredients clearly stated on the product.
It is imperative that one buys a well known brand. You can easily follow up the ingredients used from a well known brand.
You need to pay keen attention to your skin type to ensure you have a moisturizer that is friendly and supportive to your skin texture, dryness, oiliness and color.
Organic moisturizers are manufactured using organically grown ingredients which include aloe vera and charmomille.
These moisturizers are also not tested on animals neither are they added chemical/synthetic additives and fragrances present in other products.
They don't contain chemicals like phthalates and parabens that have been proven to be harmful to the dermis.
Organic moisturizers mostly constitute natural extracts of fruits like pineapple, flowers like roses and are generally scented naturally
Most moisturizers are usually therapeutically formulated to cater for most if not all skin types. They also help restore
So, Miriam, why did you write this book?
I wrote this ebook because the fact of the matter is, social media is extremely prevalent to the point that is it taking over not just traditional forms of advertising (radio, TV, print) but the first thing people do if they want to find out about you is to look at your social networks and activity.
Klout is a company based out of San Francisco that provides social media analytics to measure someone's influence across major social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus and LinkedIn.
Klout measures your network size and more importantly how well others in your network respond to your output. Klout measures your engagement with others and if it is high, you are considered to be influential online.
Why is KLOUT an important tool for social media?
The reason Klout is important is because what you do online spills over to your offline world (I realize I had already said that so you can edit that out if you want) considering that social media is prevalent now and that will continue on. If you are in the marketing, social media, SEO, coaching, writing field or if you are a business owner and professionally working with the public, having a high Klout score is very important. This could be a huge determining factor on whether or not you are given to speaking and guest blogging opportunities.

Who is KLOUT going to benefit the most?

Stock: Vegetable and Chicken
Carrots, Celery, Onion, Thyme
Cream or Half and Half
This is mostly an non-measured soup and super easy to make. It's very hearty and satisfying on a cold winter evening!
Take a soup pot and add a healthy drizzle of olive oil and a 1" pat of butter. Let it melt.
Add 1/2 of one yellow diced onion and one garlic clove (minced). Cook until onion starts to turn clear (about 4 minutes).
Add chopped mushrooms--use any you like, but chop them the same size for even cooking. I use portabella, shitakke, and button.
Add some thyme (about 1 tsp.).
Cook for about 5 minutes. You can also add some diced carrots and celery.
Once mushrooms and veggies are starting to cook, add 2 cans of vegetable stock and one can of chicken stock.
Add a healthy dose of sherry (about 1/4 cup).
Cover and cook on simmer for about 40 minutes. Stir now and then.

Anyway, fast forward to now and I just discovered the coolest new thing: A Vibrating Auto Puff that literally sweeps your foundation on like it's air-brushed. It's super smooth and looks more natural than even air-brushed (in my opinion).
IPKN has caused a buzz in Korea and is now expanding into the North American market. IPKN is a make-up applicator that comes in the form of a vibrating auto puff that’s used for the application of foundation. The vibrating auto puff is easily used as a handy make-up tool for light and long-wearing coverage and provides even coverage without any visible streaks to the face.
The applicator has an 8 in 1 function (Primer, Sunblock, Base, Foundation, Powder, BB Cream, Packed, Make-up Fixer) and requires no assembly. By dabbing compact foundation with the applicator and turning on the switch located below the puff, the applicator vibrates and allows for smooth coverage around the face and T-zone.
Groovy stuff. They are expanding into US so check it out at: www.ipkn.ca
I used Perricone when it first came on the market and I liked it well enough, except for the price. For the price I thought it should perform mircles, which it didn't (no mere cream or serum can). So when I saw the offer for the low-priced ($40ish) set including the super firmer, Sub-D, I jumped at it.
Here's my first look:
I've used it just over a week now and honestly cannot give a full review as it would take several weeks or months to know, but as a "religious" user (twice a day), I can offer a glimpse to you.
I don't much like the Citrus Wash (never have) so I don't use it, but I do like the High Potency Facial Amine Firming serum, although have not seen much in the way of results, I will continue to use it daily with fingers crossed. The regular Cold Plasma cream is nice--very light. The No-Foundation Foundation is nice, but nothing better than the Loreal BB cream I use.
What we really want to know is...does the new "breakthrough" Cold Plasma Sub-D really tighten and lift the jawline? Well, in one week, not much. But...I have noticed a slight firming/smoothing of the decollete and neck area (a bit). I am impressed with that. It spurs me on to continue to use it twice daily, which is a lot for me as I usually use a regular moisturizer in the morning and my high-end treatment products at night only. This cream is not as lovely (in smell anyway) as the others, but not too bad. It's very light and spreads well.
I will continue to post on this to let you know if it's worth it to get involved in the monthly shipping program you submit to when you buy. For right now, it's a yes, but that could change if nothing changes!
If you want a good neck product at a drastic savings from Perricone: try Elysee (sold on HSN). The neck cream is a goodie and I think it works even better!

We can stay current, hip, glowing and fit, but the bit of pudge around of middles is a thing of mystery. We try eating less. No go. Working out more. No go. Working out and eating less. No go.
So what gives?
After hunkering down for the past three months to truly figure this out for myself, I've discovered a couple of things that have helped (me, at least). They are not miraculous, but they may help open your eyes a bit to your own plight.
1. Prescriptions: I was on birth control and a low-dose anti-anxiety (mostly to help me sleep). Both are certified weight-gainers (regardless of what most "professionals" will tell you--real people will tell you they gained weight on either or both). I did tons of research and worked to get off both (Check with your doctor to do this!). It wasn't instant, but after almost three solid months, I'm starting to see a difference.
2. Working out less. It's true! I spent six weeks turning my usual 40 minute workout into an 1.5 hour workout. I got several new workout dvds and did them back to back. I sweated up a storm and truly fatigued myself. After six week...a disappointing "not much" happened. I knew I needed a change.
So I researched, read and tried other types of workouts. I started doing Tabata/Hiit workout (similar to what is in the "Insanity" and similar-type workouts, and bingo! I worked out 4 days a week (vs. 6) and did a 25-35 minute high-intensity workout. Finally, the pudge was just beginning to budge.
3. Cutting gluten. I love gluten, don't you? I'm not a person to cut anything generally healthy from my diet. I do tend to eat pretty clean and healthy with a couple of splurges (wine, pizza, cheese, bread, pasta) in my line-up.
But I try to cut heavy gluten out when possible. I got Rudi's and Udi's gluten-free bread for my morning toast (both lighter than bread, but really good). I eat oatmeal, rice (brown), grains, sweet potatoes every week, in moderation. I generally tend to eat proteins/greens and lots of salad. But I love a cupcake, dish of ice cream (especially pistachio gelato) or a couple of cookies now and then after dinner.
4. Fiber it up. I add fiber whenever possible, to whatever possible. My smoothies, drinking water, oatmeal...dash in a bit of smooth fiber. It does help!
There it is. Nothing revolutionary here, but I identified what MY pudge-keepers were and tested and tried different things. Be prepared to do the same, and be disappointed and frustrated along the way!
My fave workouts:
Tabata -- find it On-Demand for cable subscribers until the Sports Fitness workouts (cardio)
Breathless workouts by Amy Dixon (find them online or at www.collagevideo.com) ... a great site!
JJ Virgin--a health "guru" I've been following lately who believes in the "BURST" training method. This is high-intensity or shorter period of time.

I've used a LOT of primers including Geller, Mercier, Smashbox, Olay. You get the idea. The one I'm most impressed with for filling hollows (under eyes) and cracks is definitely the Loreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base.
I'm not sure how "magic" it is, but this stuff does work. The trick it use it right. This one doesn't go all over the face, or you risk getting little "pills" of product that ball up under foundation. But...if you use it in just your most severely cracked areas (nose to mouth, forehead, eye area), you'll get super results.
Use a light hand with it. It is very heavy compared to other primers, hence it's great "filling" properties. I love it in my under-eye hollows that are forming. I apply this the fill the area, then my foundation and concealer. By layering lightly, I get a really nice finished look.
Give it try with my link above for a trial size!
It's what the Insanity workout and new Jillian Michaels workout is based on, as well as countless others.
Learn more about Jillian Michaels Body Revolution (15 DVD's)
What is it?
Essentially it's simply working out for a MAXIMUM (huffing and puffing ad sweating) rate for a short time.
This means doing intervals that are super high intensity (squat jumps, plyometrics) for several seconds (20 or 30, usually) and then a short rest (10 or 15 seconds) and then repeating several times.
Hard? Yes. Great results fast? Yes. I've been doing this for a few weeks and I'm not lying...my legs are looking more toned than they have in 20 years.
It's fast and you basically "get in and get out." I'm loving it and you might too. Here's one to try (see below)...
See the 90 second workout
Here's a tip:
Whenever you have the disappointing and frustrating experience of buying the next "miracle" skincare cream or serum that just absolutely promises to make you look 20 years younger (and doesn't)...put it on your bedside table.
Instead of letting old products that are less than thrilling collect dust in your bathroom or tossing them and completely losing money, just use them on your hands at night before bed.
Don't use plain, old handcream for anti-aging; use your reject skincare creams on your hands and then put on your handcream OVER the skincare, if necessary.
Doing this will help you anti-age your hands and provide a good way to use up products that don't seem to do much for your face. Since you rarely anti-age your hands, you'll see better results hereI've been doing this for a couple of years (religiously) and it really has helped my hands be less crepey and old looking.
It's nuts. One day you're sleeping like a rock...the next you're fighting for just 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Whether it's early wakening, waking several times per night or the awful night sweats, hormones can serious wreak havoc in your life.
Finding a solution can be just as frustrating. Hormones, sleep aids, prescriptions, anti-anxiety pills, vitamins, herbs...what works?
One product found to actually WORK and work fast without next-day hangover is the Estroven Nighttime formula. This is a somewhat newer formula from Estroven and has some sleep helpers (like melatonin) included.
After trying several different things, I am so happy to report this stuff works! I do take a little extra melatonin with it (a combo that works for me).
When I find something that works, I like to share since this is such a frustrating problem and one that many docs just don't seem to "get."
(It's got good reviews on amazon and on other blogs, too!)

John's Hopkins Cancer Update
*FYI: This was sent to me via email and I've copied it here for you with only minor editing*
Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins:
1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer
cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have
multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients
that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after
treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the
cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable
2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a
3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer
cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and
4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has
nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic,
but also to environmental, food and lifestyle factors.
5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing
diet to eat more adequately and healthy, 4-5 times/day
and by including supplements will strengthen the immune system.
6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing
cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells
in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc., and can
cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.
7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars
and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.
8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often
reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation
do not result in more tumor destruction.
9. When the body has too much toxic burden from
chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either
compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb
to various kinds of infections and complications.
10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to
mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy.
Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.
11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer
cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
*CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
a. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc. are made
with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute
would be Manuka honey or molasses, but only in very small
amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in
color Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.
b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the
gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk
and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.
c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based
diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little other meat,
like chicken. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones
and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.
d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole
grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into
an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked
food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live
enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to
cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance
growth of healthy cells.
To obtain live enzymes for building
healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most
vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw
vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at
temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high
caffeine Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer
fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or
filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap
water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of
digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the
intestines becomes putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup.
13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By
refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes
to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the
body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
14. Some supplements build up the immune system
(IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals,
EFAs etc.) to enable the body’s own killer cells to destroy
cancer cells.. Other supplements like vitamin E are known
to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's
normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or
15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit.
A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior
be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put
the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to
have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.
16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated
environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to
get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another
means employed to destroy cancer cells.
1. No plastic containers in micro.
2. No water bottles in freezer.
3. No plastic wrap in microwave.
Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Centeras well.
Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.
Recently, Dr Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers.
This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrexor ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin.
So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.
This is an article that should be sent to anyone important in your life.
